Ford Unveils A Surfer-Styled New Bronco Build - Riptide
This Ford custom built 2021 Bronco was designed for outdoor, beach-going adventures. It utilizes factory accessories rather than aftermarket parts. The Velocity Blue painted Riptide was designed with beach cruising in mind.
This Bronco is meant to be driven with it's top off, and it's factory Ford tubular doors in place of the full-doors. Atop the Bronco is a prototype surfboard mount that can hold 2 almond boards. In order to stow your mountain bikes, they've added a Yakima bike rack. And to light the way ahead of you, it's got a Rigid LED lightbar as well as mirror-mounted trail lights. It's even got a prototype Ford steel front bumper, although we really think our upcoming Bronco Bumpers look and function much better. Ford also designed a pair of crossbars to support the surfboards strapped above, and the bars also function with a mesh Bimini top included in the build.
The Riptide project Bronco also includes features from the Sasquatch package, with a couple more additions. It's rolling on 35-inch mud-terrain tires wrapped around 17-inch factory wheels with Ford Performance beadlock rings. It's also got the Dana AdvanTEK electronic-locking front and rear axles, and Bilstein position-sensitive long travel shock absorbers with high clearance.
The Riptide is equipped with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, and the 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. It's got the standard Bronco Terrain Management system that includes 7 GOAT modes, so you can be sure you're prepared for whatever outdoor adventure awaits.
Missy Coolsaet, the Bronco color and materials designer, summed up the spirit of the Riptide build when she said, "Thanks to the Bronco modular design, we were able to outfit the vehicle with adventure gear that allows for freedom and versatility. Whether heading off to the mountains or along the coast, the Bronco Riptide custom vehicle is ready for adventure."
