2018-2024 Jeep JL 4-Door Roof Rack

Pretty solidly built roof rack. I was pleased that the hardware was also black. Very simple to put together. Secured to my JL easily. I also appreciated the black powder coating. So far it hasn’t added much wind noise either. Which is nice.

Great Rack…

Packaging was great, No instructions provided, but available online. Instructions and photos could be better and more clear, lots of washers remained, I assume they are extra since each bolt was secured by the required hardware set of Bolt, frame, washer, lock washer and nut. I would definitely recommend larger diameter washers be provided as they start to bend inside the holes as you tighten the hardware. Possibly even provide a torque spec for the bolts. Hex bolts would be more ideal than Allen style. Take your time and use a square when assembling. Once assembled and tightened, do a test drive, retighten the rack & mounts because they will shift, repeat at at least twice. Happy with the purchase.

I received my new rack this morning, and promptly began installing it. It took me about four hours, but I'm kind of slow. A pro could probably do it in less than two. The instructions were fine. I also watched an Internet video by extreme terrain which helped a little bit, but wasn't necessary. The fit is good. The placement of the gutter brackets are not symmetric front to back, so I chose an orientation that allowed the gutter brackets to not interfere with my rear side window molle panel brackets, which also attach to the gutters. I can also confirm that the Jeep and rack fit into my standard sized garage. Note my Jeep has 2" lift and 37 inch tires (2023 Rubicon with Recon package).

I'm toying with the idea of throwing a piece of plywood up there and pitching a small tent on it. It might slightly violate the 200 lb limit, so I'll update how that goes. I do see ads online for the rack to be used with roof top tents, but I don't think that's advised as you'll definitely blow through the weight limit.

To save those time and effort I have some suggestions that are not given in the instructions. Yes, the unit comes packed quite well all parts padded and protected! No instructions included, but available via the company or online (for the 4 door model)-same installation.
1) Before moving to step 2 of the instructions...remove the attached weather stripping that is on the "gutter clamp". Then proceed with attaching the enclosed rubber pads (figure 2A,2B).
2) Use all shorter bolts for all connections (the longer ones are for the final attachment of the gutter clamp to the "gutter mount".
3) Use the sequence-place short bolt thru the truss or side rails, flat large washer, then the lock washer, then nut.
4) Use the sequence-long bolt, lock washer, flat larger washer, then bolt thru the gutter clamp/gutter mount (step 13). The 6 final clamps will tighten without a nut.
5) Run a soft tape measure across the front and rear top of the vehicle-take the midway point and line up with the center of the "DV8" logo..take your time.
Remember not to over tighten all bolts! Just till snug...you know what happens when you over do it! Don't give it that extra turn!!
Unfortunately the pictures are not very clear on the instructions or close up for practical use. An existing independent YouTube video is online....but the fellow skips the details and close ups of the most important parts! Enjoy this great low profile rack!

I wanted something that I can use for camping to put stuff on and this was perfect for what I was looking for. It utilizes the whole roof space for our camping gears. Another reason I went for this is its easy to take off when not needed. Installation was straight forward and self explanatory. I took my time and was able to finish in 3 hours. Overall a great purchase and love that unique low profile look!
