2021+ Ford F-150 Made To Overland Series Front Bumpers 2021+ Ford F-150 Made To Overland Series Front Bumpers

2021+ Ford F-150 Made To Overland Series Front Bumpers

Overlanding is an incredibly fun and fulfilling lifestyle, especially when you have a durable yet comfortable vehicle to explore with. The Ford F-150 is a perfect overland vehicle for a variety of reasons. Overlanding is about on and off-road extended adventures. It prioritizes self-reliance and enjoying the journey, rather than just reaching the absolute hardest or remotest spots.

If you want to enjoy your next overland expedition and be prepared for obstacles in your path, you’ll need to make sure your Ford F-150 is equipped with a sturdy bumper. Front bumpers are crucial to protect your vehicle and at times, to serve as anchor points for winches so you can free yourself, other trucks, or even move heavy equipment or obstacles.

Fortunately, DV8 Offroad offers two MTO (Made to Overland) front bumpers available for 2021+ Ford F-150s. Let’s break down both of these bumpers and examine their key differences.

MTO Series F-150 Front Bumper

MTO Series | 2021+ F-150 Front Bumper

The standard MTO Series front bumper for the Ford F-150 is a sturdy and good looking piece of steel & aluminum. You can find perforated aluminum panels at the center of this bumper. These can be color-matched if you prefer for your truck's aesthetics, or you can leave them raw aluminum.

It includes two mounting points for 3/4-inch D-ring shackles, plus sensor hole mounts for the truck’s factory-installed parking sensors. You’ll also find mounting points for 3-inch pod lights for extra trail lighting on either side of the bumper.

The MTO comes finished in a micro-texture black powder coat to improve durability and reduce corrosive damage. The bumper's low-profile shape lets it slide right up against the front of your truck, ensuring a sleek look: perfect for those who want their Ford F-150s to look great while on or off-road. The optional MTO Series Universal Bull Bar can be installed on top of the bumper. This bull bar mounts a 13-inch single row LED light bar for even more lighting on the trail.

Key Features:
  • Micro-Texture Black Powder Coat
  • 4mm Body and 5mm Mounts/Supports
  • (2) 3” Pod Light Mounts
  • Reinforced D-Ring Mounts
  • Paintable Perforated Aluminum Panels
  • Works with Factory Parking Sensors
  • 3-Piece Construction

MTO Series F-150 Winch Front Bumper

MTO Series | 2021+ F-150 Winch Front Bumper

On the other hand, you might prefer the MTO Series Front Bumper with a winch mount. This is very similar to the non-winch version, but it includes a winch mount inside the bumper. It’s conveniently equipped with access holes so you can reach the top of the winch to access the switch. It was designed for overland adventures first and foremost.

Once engaged, the mount can handle a 12,000-pound winch at maximum. The bumper includes the same perforated aluminum panels and mounting points for D-ring shackles, plus sensor hole mounts for the factory parking sensors. This bumper can also mount the optional bull-bar.

Key Features:
  • Optional MTO Series Bull Bar with 13-inch LED Light Bar
  • Micro-Texture Black Powder Coat
  • 4mm Body and 5mm Mounts/Supports
  • (2) 3” Pod Light Mounts
  • In-Bumper 12,000 lb. Winch Mount
  • Reinforced D-Ring Mounts
  • Paintable Perforated Aluminum Panels
  • Works with Factory Parking Sensors
  • 3-Piece Construction

Which is Better for You?

Either of these two are a great choice, however, winch version is the best option if you want to have the best recovery options. It's a little more expensive, but only by about $100. Check out both front bumpers for yourself and see which better suits your Ford F-150!

I like the look of this and would love to put it on my 2023 tremor ecoboost. A couple questions after reviewing your installation instructions.

1. I see taking off the intercooler air dam but there is no mention of reinstalling this air dam after, does it stay off?

2. Install mentions plugging back in 2 harnesses at the end of install. I do not have front parking sensors so will i have anything to plug back in? With the air dam actuator removed will i get an engine code thrown?

3. With a winch installed this looks to block the airflow to the intercooler, long term will this be a big issue? Thanks in advance!

Hello Griffin,

Thank you for reaching out, the air dam does not need to be reinstalled and will not cause a check engine light. If you do not have any blind spot monitoring or parking sensor you will not have anything to plug back in at the end. With a winch installed we have not seen customer experience any issues as the FBFF1-10 allows for much greater air flow past the winch through the mesh cut outs in the bumper.

I like the look of the DV8 MTO series. I have a 2023 Ford F150 Lariat hybrid with power boost. I want to have the winch as well. I also have a 6" lift and 2 1/2" leveling kit. I didn’t see any pricing for the bumper. What is the expected delivery time on the bumper once ordered?
