2018-2023 Jeep JL Tail Light Guards

Bought these a couple of years ago, and they finally got a little "test" in terms of how much protection they offer. In short - you'd be 10x better without these than you would be WITH them. I've been complimented on the look of these for a couple years now, but they finally made contact with a solid object (it was NOT hard contact AT ALL). Not only did it not save my tail light, it literally folded the sheet metal around the armor. They mount to the tail light itself, and not the body. Because of the small points of contact, and the way they're actually mounted, the armor itself creates a pivot/leverage point. You can see from the pictures that the armor itself literally pushed the body panel AWAY from the gas tank filler.

Aside from that, while they do look killer, they rust like crazy too. Whatever their durable "coating" is, doesn't protect against water/rust one bit. Prior to this damage happening, I was planning on pulling them both off, and recoating them with something more durable. However, now, they will likely end up in the garbage, as I can't in good conscience sell these to anybody else knowing they'd cause MORE damage in the event of an incident than if they weren't on at all.

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
