2018-2026 Jeep Wrangler JL | Spare Tire Delete

I HAD ORIGINALLY PURCHASED AND HAD INSTALLED ANOTHER PRODUCT. IT LOOKED LIKE CRUD. SO, I SHOPPED AND DECIDED TO GET THE DV8 VERSION. IT'S PERFECT AND LOOKS AWESOME ESPECIALLY IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER CHANGES I MADE TO THE REAR LIKE THE DV8 STEEL REAR BUMPER...BAD ASS FOLKS...AND WHO NEEDS ALL THAT EXTRA WEIGHT AND EYESORE ANYWAY?

I needed a new spare tire delete as the brake light on my current one was going out (came from a different company). I think this said install level was novice-intermediate and about 2.5 hr install. I would say the install should be expert, and it truly took about 4 hours to install. First, the hole on the backing plate is not wide enough to fit the vents. Second, you have to cut the trim around the vents to get the face plate to sit flat on the backing plate, and it still won't fit flush because the hole is not big enough for the vents. Third, the bracket that holds the camera in place is only on one side which causes the camera to tilt towards that side. Luckily, my brother-in-law could cut extra out of the backing plate and created a whole new bracket for the camera to make this functional. I am not sure if the engineer of the product actually tried to install this or just thought it looked good on paper. I would not buy this again at this price without these improvements. Once installed though, it looks great.

I like the product. I would customize it more. Or maybe it was just because mine is a 2024; the camera holder; built a custom bracket; the hd bracket does not fit over the vents; unable to leave them in place. When you tighten up the main bolts to the bracket, it bows the center slightly, so I used some silicone caulk and neatly filled the gap about 3/4th the way around the bracket. The wiring should have better instructions due to it tied in with multiple wires. Make sure to use the white with dark blue stripe; not the white with light blue. And there is only one black so that is good. A few tweaks and it would be perfect. Otherwise probably the best one out there.

Installed this with my son. I picked it because it looked great and the camera didn't stick out. I would make changes to the design of the plate that attaches to the tailgate. The opening should be bigger, the vents cut smooth still.cause an interference, a half inch more opening would solve it so it would sit flush. Only other change would be the camera mounting tab, it doesn't hold a lot of the camera, a U shaped one would work great. Other than that, I highly.recommend.
